Michael Newcombe, Structural engineer
Michael has an
unwavering passion for timber design. During his undergraduate civil
engineering degree at the
University
of
Canterbury he
began work on structural timber innovations for single and multistorey
buildings. After graduating he travelled to
Italy
to complete a master degree at the
European
School
for Earthquake Engineering. While there he learnt from world experts in
seismic design and applied this knowledge in his masters’
dissertation on the seismically resistant multistorey timber buildings. Returning
home to N.Z. he continued this research, performing large-scale
earthquake experimentation on a two-storey structure as part of his
doctorate. [More about Mike...] |
